Delphi Medical achieves prison milestone with award of Styal Recovery Contract

Lancaster-based Delphi Medical has achieved a new milestone after announcing the award of its tenth contract to provide prison-based addiction recovery services.

The contract will see Delphi take over the clinical aspects of the HMP Styal Addiction Recovery Service from April this year. The contract will be managed by drugs and alcohol charity Lifeline on behalf of East Cheshire Local Authority with Delphi Medical as sub-contractor. This contract builds on the successful partnership between Lifeline and Delphi which sees them active together in Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Staffordshire and now Cheshire.

It is the company’s first contract within Cheshire and will see Delphi add ten new specialist staff.

Dr Ian Guinan says, “HMP Styal is one of the country’s main prisons for female offenders. We will also be working with patients from HMP Styal’s mother and baby unit.

“Helping patients to achieve successful recovery from addiction is a hugely important part of enabling them to successfully reintegrate with society on release.

“This is a very significant contract for us. Not only does it bring the number of prisons where we are now active up to ten, but it also continues our geographical expansion as our reputation for patient care and effectiveness at maintaining abstinence and continues to spread.”
