World Pharmacists Day, marked each year on 25 September, celebrates the vital role pharmacists play in improving health worldwide…
Today, we would like to shine a spotlight to acknowledge the hard work of the dedicated pharmacists who continually support our service users in the communities of Blackpool and Blackburn – including our Senior Pharmacist, Kayleigh Topping, who works across our clinical sites.
Part of the Delphi team for over three years, Kayleigh brings her knowledge and expertise to everything medicines-related—sharing advice, collaborating with colleagues and partners, and supporting our services to maintain excellent clinical standards.
Talking about her role and what she enjoys most about it, Kayleigh shared: “The best part of my job is working alongside teams of kind, passionate people who are all committed to making a real difference in people’s lives”.
Kayleigh has over 10 years of experience in the world of pharmacy, working for Rowlands Pharmacy and Morrisons before joining the Delphi team in 2022.
Now qualified as an independent prescriber, she’ll be expanding her role to include delivering medical assessments and appointments. For those who don’t know, an independent prescriber is a pharmacist who has undertaken additional training and gained accreditation to prescribe medicines directly to patients without needing approval from a doctor.
Established by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), World Pharmacists Day raises awareness of how pharmacists ensure safe and effective use of medicines, support patients with expert advice, and strengthen healthcare systems. It’s also an opportunity to recognise their contributions to communities, promote the profession globally, and inspire continued innovation in pharmacy to advance better health for all.
